Dr. Manhattan, first appearing in Watchmen #1 (September 1986), is a fictional character published by DC Comics.
Born Jonathan Osterman, he was a nuclear physicist who, in 1959, was caught in an intrinsic field generator during an experiment. The accident completely disintegrated his body, but he slowly reformed himself as a blue-skinned, god-like being.
Dr. Manhattan possesses vast powers including matter manipulation, teleportation, precognition, and superhuman strength. He is detached from humanity and perceives time non-linearly. His abilities significantly alter the geopolitical landscape of the Watchmen universe, becoming a powerful deterrent.
